This review is from: Schwinn A20 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports) INITIAL IMPRESSIONSThe A20 is the replacement for the Active Series 20 and Amazon has now corrected their product description to show the correct information for the A20. I haven't seen the Active Series 20 so I can't really draw a comparison and trying to get comparison info (I was trying to decide which one to buy) from the sales staff at Schwinn was impossible since the person I talked to hadn't even seen an actual working model of the A20 (let alone sat on one) and his information was limited to that which was presented on the website. I decided on the A20 since it did appear that they tried to make some improvements plus there's the issue of being able to get parts if needed in the future. I received the A20 yesterday and both my wife and I have used it once. I will update in the future. SET UP: There are very few parts to deal with plus all necessary tools were included and this was a pleasant surprise. I laid them out and checked then against the... After my husband helped me pull the bike out of the box, I wanted to see if I could put this together by myself; and, if so, how long it would take. So, I set a timer, chased my husband out of the room and began. In 15 minutes I had removed the packaging and checked for missing parts. All the parts were there. It took me just under an hour to put the bike together, and I did it all by myself! It was really easy! The parts were packaged in an organized manner and clearly identified so I had no trouble with parts. All the tools needed to put it together were included, so I only had to find a pair of scissors to remove packaging and four D batteries to operate the console. And the picture instructions were accurate and easy to follow. That was amazing in itself! Now, I had it together, and it was time to try it out. After playing with the controls a bit, I figured out how to select a program and gave it a whirl. Here's what I like and don't like about... It is very sturdy and dependable and it also does not take up too much space. Sitting in this position riding for 30 minutes is a pleasure. It is quiet so I can ride it at night with out aggravating my wife. The levels work perfectly. All the important stuff works great but you can forget the fan and the heart rate indicator. The fan can only be felt 1 inch from the surface. The heart rate indicator was way off in my opinion. For example, I am riding it now as I type with over 20 minutes on the timer at a decent pace. According to the monitor presently my heart rate is 78, just not possible. Also, the laptop/book holder is okay for my small laptop. Typing is difficult right now but I am usually playing chess while I ride so that is not bad. Continuous typing would be painful this way. Additionally, I am 5'4" and could never use this for reading. it is too far away and at the wrong angle. I do highly recommend and feel like it... Read more |

About Recumbent Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out.
The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

31 of 31 people found the following review helpful ![]() By MCALS77 "Chris" (Texas) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Horizon Fitness RC-30 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports) I have owned the Horizon RC 30 recumbent bike for about two months and I haven't had any problems with it so far. This stationary bike is almost identical to those you find in any gym, except that it doesn't have LED lights, but otherwise it performs in the same way. I am still trying to find the time to read the directions to operate the panel properly. I'm sure after I do that I'll find it very easy to fine-tune each workout session. For now I just more or less decide whether I want an easy workout or a more challenging one by just seeing what happens on the panel when I push certain keys. Customer service was very helpful by providing me with the phone number of a couple of companies in my area that could assemble this item for a fee. It would have been virtually impossible for me to do the job myself as this item comes completely disassembled and it can be quite overwhelming. 26 of 27 people found the following review helpful ![]() By This review is from: Horizon Fitness RC-30 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports) I shopped for several months and tried out lots of bikes including Golds Gym's recumbent bikes.I tried the R3 at Sam's Club and knew it was perfect! I am a big guy at 292 pounds and over 6' tall. I have had the bike for two months and with a low calorie diet have dropped 25 pounds so far! I have had five right knee operations to date and my back was injured in a car accident two years ago which has greatly limited my exercise abililty. My doctor recommended a recumbent bike and I can ride this one for 45 minutes at 15 mph on the weight loss plus program. Better than any of the more expensive bikes I tried at Gym X. 17 of 17 people found the following review helpful ![]() Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Horizon Fitness RC-30 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports) The bike was easy to assemble, took a little over an hour. It has been running without issue since it arrived. the only downside is that the screen does not light up when its on and it can be difficult to see in low light, so don't plan to be able to read the screen without overhead lights on. Over all this is a great bike. |

This review is from: Stamina Fold-to-Fit Folding Equipment Mat (84-Inch by 36-Inch) (Sports) My wife uses and elliptical machine religiously. We just moved into a different home that happens to have brand new carpet. We naturally wanted an exercise equipment mat to protect the flooring. The placement of the equipment, however, is in a corner where too long of a mat would have extended into a traffic area. After looking at all the mats on Amazon, it was obvious that the standard length is 70+" (72 mostly) whereas we needed just 60-65".We ordered this mat and placed it under the machine. It is 84 inches long segmented into 12" folding sections. The material is very high quality and it does not mark or stain the carpet. With the folds, this mat fit perfectly under our unit. It should be noted that the elliptical has front and rear feet with a raised portion in between. The folded section fits underneath this raised portion. If you have a flat or wobbly piece of equipment, you may not want to fold the mat as the folded section is obviously a tad higher than the... This review is from: Stamina Fold-to-Fit Folding Equipment Mat (84-Inch by 36-Inch) (Sports) Finally, a wide enough mat. Wide enough for a man. Actually, a smallish sweaty man. Sweating on the carpet is not cool. Working out partially on a mat and partially on tile/wood just plain sux.Mostly though, I want a mat large enough to catch all that drippage so I can hose the thing off every now and then and make things clean again. This mat is large enough that I can have both hands and both feet on it during push-ups. Those little yoga roll ups and stuff aren't sufficient. Also, my recumbent stationary bike fits completely over it. Once again, no sweat on the carpet. This mat does fold up for storage/haulage and isn't very heavy. The material isn't nearly as robust as the stuff my treadmill mat is made from. On the other hand, that mat isn't going anywhere because it's too heavy and doesn't roll up well or easily. This mat, however, is just about perfect for plopping on the carpet and getting some exercise. 19 of 19 people found the following review helpful ![]() By Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
